Podlabs (Pty) Ltd was established by myself, Soudah Hendricks, in 2018.
I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. I loved school and went on to graduate cum laude in Environmental Health from Cape Technikon in 2003. I am a registered member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
With my 20-year experience as an Environmental Health Practitioner (and Food Safety being key to that) I have identified certain areas for improvement within food safety arena. Technological advances allows for rapid microbiological tests to be performed. Traditionally food samples are collected, transported and then tested. Podlabs removes the sample transport step from the process flow, introduces rapid testing technology within aseptic conditions at the food facility. This allows the food sample to be protected from degradation and tampering while in transit. This further allows for a naturally streamlined process that is cost and time saving.
My mobile testing laboratory is currently set up to run select microbiological tests of foods and food production environments. Future plans include the development of mobile Chemical and Environmental testing laboratories. I work according to the prescripts of the ISO/IEC 17025 and have committed to the accreditation process in 2020.
Additionally, I have studied the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) along with South African pieces of legislation that governs food, food handling and food production environments.
